YouView Tests And Television Technology

It seems that not all that many years ago a rare home with a single channel television was one to visit. Then somewhere along the line TVs became a neccessity to most of us as they lowered in price and the amount of channels grew. For me, just 4 channels was enough. BBC, ITV, BBC2 and Channel 4. There is usually something half decent on and if not I turn it off, not being addicted to watching just anything, as some are.

Nowadays most homes have a television and some multiple TVs. I own 3 if you count the old portable that hasn’t been used for several years. I also have 3 computers and a mobile phone, all of which allow me to watch TV if I wish to.

Many homes have satellite dishes attached to their wall, others, like my own home have cable TV, both of which enable us to watch many more channels. Last year the UK went digital and that meant that we needed satellite dishes, set top boxes or digital TV else we couldn’t watch our favourite shows. Now YouView is being tested in 350 homes before it is launched later in the year.
