My Kindle Fire HD Review

I was waiting for the Kindle Fire HD to be launched in the UK for months, ever since it was released in the US and finally was able to order one a month ago from Amazon to celebrate my birthday. I’d waited for 2 weeks after the UK launch and studied the other options to make sure that this was the ebook reader that I really wanted.

Although there is lots of information on Amazon about the various Kindle products it can be a bit confusing and especially for those of us who are not into technology or Internet based products.

My Kindle Fire arrived by Royal Mail. It took a bit of getting into the ‘frustration free’ smart black box and once I got the package open I set my Kindle on charge. To my surprise and disappointment I found that it didn’t have an independent charger, just a cable to connect and charge it through my computer or laptop.

I love gadgets and new inventions that make life easier, or even more fun. My second favourite all time practical invention has to be the ring pull for cans which appeared in the late 1990s. No more rushing around trying to buy tin openers when the old one broke, or not being able to open cans because they are a bit dented, or cutting your fingers on ragged edges.

My favourite is the electronic cigarette. I smoked for 40 years, bought an ecig from the Internet and suddenly a couple of months later I totally stopped smoking. I honestly wasn’t even trying to stop but I did and 3 years later I am still a non smoker. Just think of all the brass that I’ve saved and of course improved my health.

It seems that not all that many years ago a rare home with a single channel television was one to visit. Then somewhere along the line TVs became a neccessity to most of us as they lowered in price and the amount of channels grew. For me, just 4 channels was enough. BBC, ITV, BBC2 and Channel 4.
